I love the onion metaphor many poets seem drawn to, which I often encountered but seldom understood until recently. We might seem dense and sturdy, but it only takes a flicker to reveal the thin, transparent, and fragile layers that hold us all together. I wonder if the scarring on these layers causes them to become more resilient and tough, or thins them out into fragmental pieces of judgement.
Wonderful poem, but I expect nothing less from your brilliant mind, Chris.

I really appreciate this thoughtful review. Thank you kindly.
Roses are most beautiful when they are fully dressed in their tender petals, whilst humans are most beautiful when their interior beauty is exposed. Thank you for a lovely poem, author Chris Shaw.

I thank you too Stu, for a beautiful review. Most appreciated.
Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
