I love the onion metaphor many poets seem drawn to, which I often encountered but seldom understood until recently. We might seem dense and sturdy, but it only takes a flicker to reveal the thin, transparent, and fragile layers that hold us all together. I wonder if the scarring on these layers causes them to become more resilient and tough, or thins them out into fragmental pieces of judgement.
Wonderful poem, but I expect nothing less from your brilliant mind, Chris.

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
