Fancy That

Fancy That

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

( a spontaneous write)

"
when we converse
about verse and so many
other matters
on life and tattered
relationships
nattering away as though
we have known each other
forever
it never crosses my mind
we won’t ever sit in the
same room together
well it didn’t until today
when a tidal wave of dismay
swept over me
and for a moment
i was swimming in sea
afloat but the boat had sunk
whoever would have thunk
it

I certainly hope the tidal wave of dismay was figurative and not literal. Whatever, this community would be a sure source of support.

Certainly not literal John. Just the muse having her say. Thanks for your visit.

I read this poem and knew what it was like to struggle to keep my head above water. It made me take pause to catch my breath. Well penned.

Beautiful, Chris! So many have limited luxury to converse in person. We are still here as a community... and many times float and sink at same time...

Somewhat sad, like friendships that pass by, but I loved the ending swimming in the sea afloat. Nice work as always Chris!

''whoever would have thunk it"
one of my favorite sayings!
it's no mystery ... birds of a feather ...
all different all the same
words of wisdom
wisdom of words
those they stay and endure watch the tourists come watch them go
whether we like it or not we have few choices ... a sinking boat a kinda/sorta floating boat
your choice

always a treat to digest your offerings

it's a terse thought that there are folks we share so much with, but never do spend one minute in the same room...yet it feels that the ties are just as strong...and bonds still grow closer.
Beautiful.

It is indeed a strange fellowship, exchanging deep things of the soul with those of a mind and heart to listen and reply yet not really knowing them, but then what about those we know and the only thing that passes between us is the most mundane thoughts and conversations about weather and sports and politics and what we saw on TV. This here is a special connection if a bit weird. enjoyed the post- carl

Honestly I dont know how writers Poets, remained sane without an outlet like this. Chris I too lately thought asbout the oceans between us and yet how easily we meet and become close, in this safe and distant way. The trade off is that we get to enjoy seeing others enjoying our work, and that is a trade worth while
