Chris,
I often what it is that makes a poet? The same things the likes of Freud told us make us who we are in toto. For me it was Wallace Stevens' Anecdote of the Jar" analyzed in my high school senior English class. A powerfully complex bunch of images revealing meaning in chaos, I had always been in love with poetry, but until I learned the names of all those literary elements that meant so much to me, I thought I was alone.

Funny how artists be it writers, poets or musicians of great talents are cut short. Always written so well Chris and not only that you are still alive.

Thanks Andrew. Yes I am still here :)) I appreciate you.
I don't know Chidiock Tichborne or his works, but I do know the feeling, that gut-twisting, heart-wrenching silent scream of pain or agony as the tears flow freely from your eyes, the words bleeding as you reading something that hits you so hard the reaction it brings to your body is visceral. This reminded me of that. Thank you for sharing

Written a few days before he was executed for treason at 23. Incredibly moving knowing his flame was about to be extinguished.
I am another who is not familiar with the works of Chidiock Tichborne, but seeing how his words have had such an impact and touched you so deeply, it makes me want to know more, see what it is that set him apart for you.

All great hearts suffer when one from among their number is lost. Shelley wept for Keats, Mary wept for Percy. To lose a mentor is to lose more than a friend. It is the death of a noble honor. Some of the better poets died very young.

You are so right Fabian. Some excellent poets were lost far too early. Many thanks for stopping by. .. read moreYou are so right Fabian. Some excellent poets were lost far too early. Many thanks for stopping by. All the best.
Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
