Unwavering

Unwavering

A Poem by Chris Shaw

at times I hear her calling
where the foam of tides is lapping
where the seagulls hover daily
where my thoughts go gently sailing
to that black rock in the sea
there is calm upon the waters
and the silver threads in moonlight
cast a sheen upon the surface
it’s a place of perfect safety
so I drift there when I hear her
when her voice is heard in whispers
and I know that in her presence
there is peace and harmony

I am more a person that is drawn to the woods than the sea but I do see the appeal of it for those that live nearby it. Everyone has their own special place that calls to them and the sea certainly appears to call to you. In this increasingly erratic world any place that gives one peace and harmony must be cherished. If the sea could read it would be very proud of this ode written on its behalf. Some lovely description.

Thank you so much Thomas. I appreciate you.
Wow! A spellbinding write, Chris. You paint the most amazing picture of the sea at nighttime, with Luna shining brightly casting her light upon the surface of the sea. During the day, the seagulls hover in search of fish for breakfast as the sea horses gallop to shore and kiss it good morning. A perfect place of peace, joy and harmony. I love this poem, Chris. It is a perfect inking of a magical place. Through your excellent word choice I was able to see this little piece of paradise in my mind as I read. I could hear the waves crashing, then see them receding again. An enchanting poetic gem! Thank you for sharing, dear Chris...

Many thanks Ken for your kind words. All good wishes.

a beautiful elegetic piece. that there is someone, either here or somewhere else, who has unwavering love for us is the biggest thing we need.
at times I hear her calling

i actually thought of a goddess reading this. that something with a motherly love is somewhere out there is faith in its essence and it is what keeps us comforted when we feel alone. like beautiful scar tissue, your writing glows.

As an avid sea-lover who finds peace in the solitude the waves bring, i have, many times, felt exactly the words you so beautifully wrote. "It's a place of perfect safety" It is. It truly is. Lovely poem. Grateful to have come across it.

Such longing in this poem. A desire for solace, and the memory of someone lost. It was a great pleasure to read, as it struck such a note of melancholy.
