Cold Tea/Warm Heart

Cold Tea/Warm Heart

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Political , but you travel wherever you want to go

"
the clock stopped
in the Dock today

It stopped while waiting
breakfast tea
and for an hour maybe
more
i lost all track of passing
time

i gazed upon the brooding
clouds
sailing swiftly on a sea
breaking waves of brackish grey
yet with a thread of hopeful
blue
the tree tops swayed from
left to right
the river reeds were tuned
in too

bending in the morning breeze
teasing teasing by degrees

the Union flag was flying
high
though where was I
I do not know
restless me my compass spins
homeless me where do I go

an hour passed an older me
the tea before me had grown
cold
I’d wandered freely in my
mind
with thoughts that ranged
from black to gold

Chris,

I sit, this morning at 10 to 7 am on what appears is going to be a lovely moon-worship day, sipping my coffee (love hot tea by the as my Me-ma made us hot tea each and every morning when I was a kid) in quite contemplation of what this day will bring that has already been brightened by this wonderfully inspiring piece of excellent Poetry ... Thank you for sharing ...

Time passes, ideas move in our minds, lives change, hearts break, clods move on and all while our tea gets cold. And we, upon dipping, have no idea why. Nice one Chris

Chris
I liked the "tea grown cold". It was a fun mocking with words.
I sometimes forget to drink tea when it's still warm. If it's a Persian Tea I always drink it on time, because it's the most wonderful tea I've ever tasted. I'm not an Earl Grey fan.
Good write dear Chris. I could imagine the moments you expressed very clearly.
Have a nice day🌸💐

Interesting - and lovely - thoughts here, Chris. I've read it a few times now. And how often have we experienced cold tea when our thoughts have wandered here and there?
