calm the lakes that bleed the river
as the mist drifts off its surface
rising upwards dissipating
torched by burnished morning sun
ghostly trails of veils now perish
as the light grows ever stronger
courage comes as it is needed
stay the course and see it done
now the sparkles dance on water
gleaming on the skin of ripples
i was born my father’s daughter
taught by him to overcome
go find inside your strength he’d tell me
let the lion roar and freely
dig in deep and don’t succumb
Chris , one of your best , tho I know nothing about poetry , so says Kevin from All poetry ,giggle
Nice words connections , we all resolve like music , in jazz a 251 , we go two or too , then if it’s alright we give a high five , then we go to the one , that’s ourselves , your a really skilled poet, have a great day week ect

Many thanks Stuart for your encouraging review. All the best to you.
I can really relate to this Chris, because I was my father's daughter, and he taught me everything I know now and when i was younger too. Strength, courage, "keep at it" he would say; we remember dearly those words from a wise and dear father.....lovely write Chris.
Warmly,
B

A nice piece of memorabilia concerning father and family, Chris. I felt this poem grew stronger as it went along and the final 5 lines were excellent. I had hoped for "vanish" rather than perish; ogreish would be an interesting replacement for stronger as the sound echoes with both grows and with vanish and courage.
Or you can leave it just as it is and it is fine. :-))

I like the message behind the piece. I've always believed in sticking with things until I got them accomplished. But some tasks in life have proved impossible. Toxic people and situations can sometimes steal your joy, your hope and your happiness no matter how hard you try. So I've come to a point where I just don't like most people very much.

I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts and feelings about your beautiful and inspiring poem. Your words paint a vivid picture of the natural world, capturing the beauty and power of the lakes and rivers that surround us.
The way you use imagery to describe the mist rising off the lake, and the light growing stronger as the morning progresses, is particularly striking. Your words are a reminder of the importance of courage and perseverance, and of the need to stay the course and see things through to the end.
Your poem is also a celebration of strength and resilience, and of the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity. Your words are an inspiration to all of us, reminding us to dig deep and find the strength we need to face the challenges that life presents us with.
Your words are a reminder of the beauty and power of the natural world, and of the strength and resilience that lies within us all.

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
