calm the lakes that bleed the river
as the mist drifts off its surface
rising upwards dissipating
torched by burnished morning sun
ghostly trails of veils now perish
as the light grows ever stronger
courage comes as it is needed
stay the course and see it done
now the sparkles dance on water
gleaming on the skin of ripples
i was born my father’s daughter
taught by him to overcome
go find inside your strength he’d tell me
let the lion roar and freely
dig in deep and don’t succumb

Nice words connections , we all resolve like music , in jazz a 251 , we go two or too , then if it’s alright we give a high five , then we go to the one , that’s ourselves , your a really skilled poet, have a great day week ect

Many thanks Stuart for your encouraging review. All the best to you.
That first line catches my mind. The rivers are so strong and tumultuous at times, then empty into the calm. Your father knew the power of a river. How difficult it is to change its course dug in as deep as they are. And the deeper the river the more calm to bleed.

The first lines, which describe the sun's determined rise, act as a metaphor for the speaker's code for dealing with life. Basically, it recommends going within to gain spirit and determination when dealing with any problem: "dig in deep and don't succumb". I think Mr. Churchill would have endorsed this view enthusiastically.

How beautiful you focused on the beauty of the nature and then wrote about wise words of your father. I love it. I always like it when experienced people as you talk of the wisdom they saw in others. May your dear father rest in peace.
P.S: I really was messed up recently due to University Entrance Exam and other things so I couldn't visit my dear friends' pages here. How are you doing dear Chris?

Have a nice day Ma'am.
How wise and thoughtful your father was to tell you that Chris..
Stretches of water are so haunting in the early morning light, then to change in moments into something alive and sparkling..

dear Chris... "Let the Lion Roar and freely." was it the Lion in Wizard of Oz that needed Courage? So many Virtues and so little Time. We have a very large Window overlooking the Tall trees in our Master bedroom upstairs. This morning there was a Cardinal that was observing us as we discussed our Plans for the day. It was uncanny and made us realize that Birds have "spirits" perhaps of our loved ones who have "gone to Glory".

This morning, there were two butterflies on the garden table, on the deck outside my kitchen door. My granddaughter told me to go and say hello. Thank you so much for your visit. Sending love and warm wishes across the pond.
Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
