Jahkai brings sunshine
it’s his way
he adds value to many
a could be better day
he’s only three
but he’s the bees knees
to me
so when the phone rings
and he says hello nanny
it’s me and he tells me
that he’s been feeding
the quacking ducks
while listening to birds
singing from their house
in the trees
with a see you soon
I love you like ice-cream
I know he already has
the makings of a poet
... Or he knows how to butter you up enough to get more treats from you 😊
Kids eh? They do have a talent for just cutting to the point. It's such a pity that saying things as they are will be frowned upon soon, but while he's young, he can just say things like "that tastes disgusting" without worrying about the cooks hurt feelings or worrying about how much ice cream costs, when he has his nan to treat him 😊

Belated they are but better late than never. You are so right about kids coming to the point. I have also seen the other side of Jahkai:)) The one where he has to eat his greens:)

I'm still wishing I'd said it, as my gran bought her the biggest box of chocs I've ever seen. 😊
She did share them though, or as I put it, recycled the ones she didn't like.

And just like a nan, we all know you think he's the bees knees, and legs and toes 😊
I don't know who's "Jahkai" but whoever he maybe, he sounds like you grandson... I'd I'm wrong, please forgive me 😅
But the last phrases, sounds like that. Beautifully and simply crafted with all sweet little love. Just like you ma'am ❤ ☺.
Thanks for the beautiful work.

Oh your grandson... then definitely he must be too cute and smart like you... :)
So Jackhai is Jack in the UK?..did not know that. Britain is a wild and wacky town..lol.. He sounds like a Poet alright and probably more...the love you write for his voice alone and ice-cream habits are something of a nature that will fill his days until it shows in his own pages. Soft...very soft and smooth. Your poetry as usual. Been awhile but happy to see you have not lost such a gift. I have wolves that would love and do well to bear such a name...hmmm...lol. May you play many days in his guidance and makings. Give him a poetry book and more ice-cream. Worlds wonders!!. A wonderful tribute Chris. Immensely enjoyed !!

I hope you are doing ok. Jahkai is not Jack. It is a Caribbean name. My grandson who is adorable and the apple of my eye is of mixed race. Thank you for the many nice things you have said about my poetry today. Most appreciated. Who knows, I may be able to pass that interest on to Jahkai. He certainly already appreciates nature:) I will buy him a poetry book and he gets lots of ice-cream already. Have a very happy Thursday:)
Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
