A Pocketful of Smiles

Jahkai brings sunshine
it’s his way
he adds value to many
a could be better day
he’s only three
but he’s the bees knees
to me

so when the phone rings
and he says hello nanny
it’s me and he tells me
that he’s been feeding
the quacking ducks
while listening to birds
singing from their house
in the trees

with a see you soon
I love you like ice-cream
I know he already has
the makings of a poet

Kids eh? They do have a talent for just cutting to the point. It's such a pity that saying things as they are will be frowned upon soon, but while he's young, he can just say things like "that tastes disgusting" without worrying about the cooks hurt feelings or worrying about how much ice cream costs, when he has his nan to treat him 😊

I remember the benefits too. When my gran was told she was going to be a great gran, my eldest sis piped in and said "but you've always been a great gran."
I'm still wishing I'd said it, as my gran bought her the biggest box of chocs I've ever seen. 😊
She did share them though, or as I put it, recycled the ones she didn't like.
