ah yes chris. almost as if sent from the angels this poem. ten yrs ago to the day my maternal grandmother passed. No one could bake like her. Fridays were her day of wonders. Pies, tarts, cakes, homemade bread. A day of gathering. Even in adulthood, all her grandchildren knew Friday was the day to visit. Sometimes thought the only reason we kept in touch was because of her call to our stomachs. This beautiful poem lightens an otherwise dark-tinged day of memory.

Anniversaries can be difficult. Pleased you visited and were reminded of your beloved grandmother and her wonderful baking. Thank you so much.
Culinary chaos, and sounds just like my kitchen when I have a bash.
Much enjoyed.

I knew someone like this, always a total mess left in their wake but they were such good cooks...I hardly every let it get to me. (Especially if I was hungry) : ) Nice one Chris.

Fortunately we have a dishwasher:) Often needs a couple of loads when Beth has been baking. Many thanks for your response. The consolation is her excellent baking.
I doubt there is anything left over, as you portray this scrumptious desserts that come out of Beth's oven....and in my youth my grandmother baked cinnamon buns where the scent wafted all over her apartment....the cleaning up part of baking is always a chore and isn't even thought about until all the bowls, pans and flatware were used up..seems like she baked for a crowd....and who wants to clean up....
lovely memory Chris

This poem smells delicious with the aroma of home. It tantalizes with the fragrance of well made confectioners. Even reminds me of my wife at work whenever she has time for stuffs to bake. Hmnn. Yummy. A beautiful poem.

So pleased our Beth’s bake day reminded you of home and your wife’s baking when she has time. I think she may be pushed for time if she is working so hard:) Now that asks the question, do you bake my friend? :) Nothing like the delicious aroma of cooking coming from the kitchen. The heart of the home. So pleased you enjoyed Beth’s bake day. Have a great day.

dear Chris... I love cooking on the Hearth where food can be
seasoned with Thyme and Rosemary. Freshly baked Bread and
Sumatra Coffee brewing... All is well as the storm clouds gather.
Fresh Ginger and Tarragon... A Woman's Heart is in the Home.

Hmm, I think I'd need a free sample to make a propellorly review! 😊
I tend to do the same, but at least I clear up as I go along, or else they'd be no clean utensils for the next batch, which is usually dependent on fridge or freezer space.
And the least said about Katie's last pancake day catastrophe the better. I swear I can still make our the splat on the ceiling though 😊
She does try though. A good review for her is "Well they're not burnt as much as last time 😊
On the plus side, she is on cooking duty until I'm fed up a bit more... I've lost nearly a stone! 😊
