When I see petals strewn on the ground, I often think, "What a waste." So true, your concluding lines, nothing of value lasts forever, however hard we may wish it does. I feel such sadness in your words, dear Chris. Thank you for this beautiful poem.

So prophetically true Chris, that nothing of value lasts forever, but think of the richness of the memories of it you have that now, that you couldn't put a price on.
Reminds me of seeing the cherry blossoms throwing their confetti to the winds and brightening the day for all. Well, almost all. I'd hate to be the road sweeper clearing it all up. 😊

"Nothing of value, lasts forever " written something of too deep meaning.

Thank you Soyam, the orange blossom falls far too quickly. It’s loveliness gone too early.

"Nothing of value lasts forever"....a rather dark thought here, Chris. Bridal bouquets...some last longer than the romance of the marriage. The poinciana trees are in bloom here and they carpet the streets and lawns with orange. There is a sadness seeing the petals on the ground. You captured this! Beautiful imagery. Lydi**

Wonderfully expressed my friend, spring brings beauty in tiny moments. Yet the beauty is gone so quickly as it came. Beautiful write ;-}

These lines echo Robert Frost's "Nothing gold can stay." Nature provides an inexhaustible source of inspiration. To the discerning eye, all the manifested things, such as flower petals, become a metaphor for some aspect of human life. To quote another great admirer of nature, "Nature always wears the colors of the spirit." (R.W. Emerson)

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
