When I see petals strewn on the ground, I often think, "What a waste." So true, your concluding lines, nothing of value lasts forever, however hard we may wish it does. I feel such sadness in your words, dear Chris. Thank you for this beautiful poem.

Your poem is a beautiful reflection on the fleeting nature of beauty and the way that even the most beautiful things in life are temporary. I loved the way that you tried to convey the idea that the mock orange flowers are a metaphor for the transience of life itself, and that even the most beautiful things in life are not meant to last forever. Your words are a beautiful reminder to cherish the fleeting moments of beauty that we encounter along the way, and to find beauty in the impermanence of things. Your poem is a beautiful celebration of the beauty of life, and I am so grateful to have encountered your words.

As Petals softly drop on fertile ground… the orange blossoms gather to whisper in the Wind…where Honey Bees buzz and 💗 love abounds… secret moments scattered in hallowed ground… tenderly, Pat

Yes, they are quite beautiful aren't they and I have several in my garden. Sadly, as you say, their flowering time is so short, and whilst it is perhaps true that nothing of value lasts forever, we can still look forward to new growth each year.

This is beautiful, Chris. You transport my soul to that place, that brief season, where I witness and feel it all. Thank you.

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
