Marina

Marina

A Poem by Chris Shaw

this marina lake on a marvellous
morning is a mirror canvas

almost a Monet painting in its
impressionist magnificence

a still life with no movement
reflects a burnished sun glaring

staring into glassy waters while
the heat touches receptive skin

burn baby burn exposed shoulders
should be smothered in sunscreen

look at those flimsy wings of blue
dragonflies hovering in delicate flight

barely skimming the surface with
their oh so fragile beauty

This poem is definitely a Monet painting….with stunning reflections of nature from the lake….placid, smooth like glass…..these are the mornings to observe the beauty of one’s surroundings…not only visually, but to be able to hear creatures of nature and their symphonic Melodie’s….
Lovely Chris

Really Fabulous Chris - how you capture and evoke Monet's incredible use of colour, particularly their shades of blue. Exceptional ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

delightfully well descriptive. my kind of place for sure. you even provide the transportation on the backs of those fascinating dragonflies with "flimsy wings of blue". thanks for the quick getaway ... :)

Dagnabbit Chris! You just described a perfect moment of experiencing a day like today was, that I wasted by moaning about it being so unbearably hot to sleep, while I was trying to sleep and failing quite miserably.
I sat with the curtains drawn, moaning about the lack of breeze and the feeling that I was a sausage, knowing how it felt to be thrown onto the barbie, hoping for a gust to blow out the flames and not even finding a half hearted pfft to cool me down even a little.
If I had had the energy, I'd have googled "why is it so freaking hot in Scotland?", but I didn't and can only assume that it is karma getting back at me for moaning through the rest of our miserable weathered year and wishing for a happy medium of decent weather, not too cold and not too hot and while I'm at it, who's been sleeping in my bloody bed and where the heck has all the porridge gone? 😊

I love the descriptive passages here, Monet etc that allow me to see this piece of nature. Calm and reflective in more ways than one.

This is a beautiful, serene description.
It sounds like you might spend time on a boat? :)))
