i plant memories
since no amount of
trinkets or financial gain
when departing this
earthly plane
can replace the love
given freely from
heart and soul
i plant memories
i do so by the day
and last Saturday was one
of the very best
blessed by warmth of sun
green trees overhanging
blue lakes
my whole family took
a day out
nothing to shout about
though what a day that turned
out to be
one for the album of joyful
to be mounted in the corridors
of generational memory
I’m just a seed planter , put on the earth , to bear children , and when I die , my seed will go with me
On a happier note , lol, we are a world of seeds , the beauty of nature described here , in your well written poem , our joy is seeds working for us , to establish beauty , of nature , shame the seeds establish also the ugliness of man

How you explore the themes of transience, love, familial bonds, nature, and the significance of memories.
Your use of imagery and symbolism uses a concept of 'planting memories' as a metaphor, connecting the process of making and preserving memories with the nurturing process of planting and growing.
Just as a seed is sown, nurtured, and eventually blossoms, so too do the memories that you plant. The green trees, the warmth of the sun, and the blue lakes present a vibrant picture of a beautiful day that serves as the backdrop for the creation of these memories.
You've written prose in a tone that is reflective, sincere, and joyful, effectively communicating the mood of warmth and happiness that pervades the poem evoking a sense of delight at the simple pleasures of life, such as a family outing on a sunny day, creating an emotional appeal that resonates with the reader.
I very much adore this poem. Bravo! I will think of it for the rest of this night.

Love this image of "planting" happy, happiness, joy. I realise that, the older we get (not that you look old, dear Chris!), the more we need to plant those memories, keep them, look at them often, like looking at a treasured piece of jewellery, or someone's poetry. Thanks, Chris. Always a pleasure to visit your material.

It is true as we get older the memories and building them become more important. I lost my mum last year so I am now the matriarch in the family. That sounds really old doesn’t it lol. So pleased you enjoyed the read. You are kind.
Wow....this is what true blessings read like. Your words are wonderful and invigorating to read and every reader is moved to count their own blessings. That is what ideal poetry must do and you do it beyond expectations, dear Chris. Once again, your poetic beauty comes to the fore in your description of the amazing day which did not seem out of the way and yet it was so memorable and will stay planted in your memories forever. Such wonderful days just knock on our door softly and unexpectedly and they are our greatest gifts from God and a sign He loves us. Kudos! You always have something special to offer.

This one has both charm and wisdom. Material things can be nice, but they are often soon forgotten. Outings like the one described may be "nothing to shout about," but an adult fifty years from now may regard it as a treasured childhood memory.
