From Seed

From Seed

A Poem by Chris Shaw

i plant memories
since no amount of
trinkets or financial gain
when departing this
earthly plane
can replace the love
given freely from
heart and soul

i plant memories
i do so by the day
and last Saturday was one
of the very best
blessed by warmth of sun
green trees overhanging
blue lakes
my whole family took
a day out

nothing to shout about
though what a day that turned
out to be
one for the album of joyful
to be mounted in the corridors
of generational memory

i plant happy

I’m just a seed planter , put on the earth , to bear children , and when I die , my seed will go with me
On a happier note , lol, we are a world of seeds , the beauty of nature described here , in your well written poem , our joy is seeds working for us , to establish beauty , of nature , shame the seeds establish also the ugliness of man

Beautifully said Chris. The memories that are planted can be such a comfort when we are gone. Your words really touch the heart here and as always.

Dear Chris, I love what you plant....because opposed to a seed, a memory lasts forever....and even in winter, you can find a beautiful spot to plant another memory...on a lovely hillside near a lake or where you choose in the world of mother nature...very vivid images of nature, I assume near your house... with your family surrounding...a day to be remembered

Please grow a huge patch of happiness in your garden for me. This poem made me smile; so full of honest warmth and love. We should all be good gardeners tending the fruits of our labors; hoping they are sweet and never bitter. This is really beautiful and special. I enjoyed. F.

Heartfelt writing dear Chris. What are we to carry if we did not bring anything here. Seeding happy memories and making new seeds of hope and togetherness . Your seeds will definitely sprout out new blessed memories freely for the soul and for your family dear. Wishing many more such Saturdays where feeling happy is the special shout out, what else needed!

Memories are the true treasures in this lifetime and you have captured that superbly in this beautiful poem so finely inked. All we can take with us from this world to the next is the love we received in this lifetime. We really should not be attached to material things, they have no place or value in Spirit. So wonderful to have a beautiful, memorable family day out Chris. That memory will last as long as life itself. Lovely, lovely poem, dear poetess. Thank you for sharing, Chris...

Thank you Soren. Treasure indeed. I appreciate your kind review.

Chris
our ability to remember is such a powerful faculty, one we must not take for granted. and it's also one we need to be careful as bad memories can be poisonous. this verse expresses the hope that we can fill our minds with joyful memories and a bigger hope that we might be able to carry them into eternity and share them with our lineage. it is both thought-provoking and a beautiful piece.

Me too dear Chris.
"i plant memories
i do so by the day"
I agree with the lines above. We plant gardens and we hope they grow tall and strong. Thank you dear friend for sharing the wonderful poetry.
