Free Floating

Free Floating

A Poem by Chris Shaw

that one and only prized phone photo
taken in the depths of a bluebell wood
where we paused after a long walk
careful not to tread where
the flora had spread wide

so intense the blue violet carpet
not a single flower head we wished
crushed under a careless foot
while the dewy scent permeated
throughout the evening air

where a spontaneous shaft of
late sunlight discovered my fair hair
restored to its former glory
well that’s another day story
of how age can rob us of golden

my clumsy fingers recently
pressed the delete key by mistake
gone that moment of woodland magic
lost into the ether of evermore
forever floating free

well at least you're a good writer. love your use of 'imagery' (pun intended). ah technology - ever more permeating in our lives. all i hear about now is artificial intelligence. i never thought i'd be talking into a cell phone, computer or tv remote. i hate it when people are not paying attention on the sidewalk. oh well, at least some things are new even as we grow older and more forgetful. much enjoyed read.

press 1 if you'd like to speak to a live person ... :)

It is quite likely that scene will reproduce unless some bleep with a bulldozer arrives first
The trick is getting there at the appropriate time

I thought it due to Peter Pan being a British creation. :-)

Moments of grandeur. And what it means to me, careful not stepping on the flowers? Remember the butterfly effect how our actions in this time and place forever change the future? Show The idea that every single thing we do leads to the future that even the crushing by accident of a butterfly can profoundly change everything that comes after.

Ask a teenager how to get it back Chris, it can be done. You can even watch YouTube videos on how to do it. Just type in how to find deleted files on.. Then put in your phone model.
But apart from that, you painted the picture so wonderfully that perhaps it was meant to be deleted, just to make you write this.
I had a similar scene about two years ago when we went to an enchanted forest night and it was basically classical music and a light show, wandering through the woods, where trees were lit up in reds and blues and I think we were the only ones not high. 😊
Think I got a contact high though, as we wandered through a path of trees surrounded by purple Heather, or wild mountain thyme and the blue lighted trees flickered and went out. We stumbled on, thinking it was part of the show, until we were surrounded by the Heather and no longer on the path. We were like naughty kids, trying not to laugh and knew we'd be in bother if we shouted for help, so just ran instead and found our way back to the light.
Was so glad I didn't get put on the naughty step. Consider this my confession 😊
