Yellow Is The Colour

Yellow Is The Colour

A Poem by Chris Shaw

little flower
when i look deep
into your open sunshine
petals

reminding me of butter
and all that is good
in life and worth the
celebrating

do you have any idea
how on a blue morning
you flood my mind with
memories

of happy and laughter
yet here you are alone
without company on a green
grass lawn

in your smallness
rising above all the rest
to catch a single falling
tear drop

I understand the above lives. I have many flowers, re-planted from my grandfather's yard. When they bloom, I can see his face and hear his voice. Thank you dear friend for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Obviously, this is about more than one small, yellow flower. Something about it has triggered memories, maybe of people, or of a time generally, that is no more. Nature is like that. In its countless displays of beauty it can call up both what is and what is gone. We should treasure these memories, but at the same not letting them dominate our lives.

In colour theory yellow is the opposite or complimentary of blue. Each makes the other stand out.But you probably knew that.
A delightful little poem that I throughly enjoyed.

I am assuming this refers to a buttercup and I know what you mean. A clouded, gloomy day, look down at this cheerful little bloom and all of the sudden, things don't seem so bad. If indeed it is a buttercup in this poem, I remember as kids we used to pick them and hold them up to our chin and the sun would reflect off of them creating a yellow glow to our chin skin. : )

looking at that lonely flower would remind us of the times we sat alone in our own garden of acquaintances just wishing one would stop and touch us...feel the scent of our love.
