Resilience

Resilience

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(nature leading the way)

"
when I consider what’s broken
i see images of the bombed streets
of London after the blitz

seen in old magazines
when buildings were blasted
and memories buried under rubble

yet out of ashes and carnage
pockets of pink flowers grew proud
poking their heads above the parapets

to find a touch of sunlight
amid the detritus of destruction
determined and resilient

in the face of adversity
to rise above it all and stretch
their necks to find some light

Chris, I like how you conveyed this poem. You captured the essence of it all in this life very creatively. It’s hope that carries us through. This verse especially speaks poetically of destruction and resilience. We need that more and more these days. This verse can stand alone it’s so powerful.

pockets of pink flowers grew proud

Nature always finds a way to show her beauty, no matter what. I have often thought that catastrophes of nature, floods, mudslides, things like that was nature painting jesso over her canvas so she could create something new. Nice one my friend.

Hi Chris,
Such a lovely poem about hope and knowing that life does go on...Your use of the pink flowers popping up is really wonderful...Immediately upon reading pink flowers I visualised them...
Loved it,

Thank you Chris
Perhaps, the pink flowers know more than we do. Perhaps, they know there is compensation for those lost in all the senseless wars, that there is a better world somewhere for those who got only pain and sorrow on this earth. This poem was so beautiful to read, dear Chris. It makes one think and reflect on the true meaning of life, here on earth.
