Catkins Quiver

Catkins Quiver

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(Abundant and lovely to see)

"
like lambs’ tails in spring
pendulous on limbs of birch
trembling in a breeze

Beautiful Chris and full proof that the trad 5-7-5 retains its magic. Some folks on the Cafe seem to think that free-form and trad are at loggerheads and it is some kind of war. Nothing could be further from the truth. Whatever floats your boat, as the guy said.

Beautiful imagery. It's magical to watch the first signs of life slowly appear in spring, even as these are unfortunately the start of a brutal allergy season for my family.

Ooh, I had heard of the title, but had to Google it to make sure I hadn't dreamt it.
It was only when I read the phrase unisexual and pollinating that I thought I had recalled seeing this on some birch trees a forever ago and reading that it is a sure sign of spring, I copied ma nature into your reply too, seeing as there are more snow warnings in place from tonight onwards.
You don't want to be reading headlines of "colder than the North Pole" of a Monday. It makes your coffee taste off, doesn't it?
I wonder when we'll see a headline that warn us it's going to be hotter here than Egypt! Probably when the sun crashes into us! 😊

At first I thought small felines were being referred to, but I don't recall ever seeing any of them hanging from limbs of birch.
