I cannot accept betrayal. Life is too valuable to waste on someone who doesn't value you. Roses are the chosen gift of the deceiver and many do fall for their floral charms despite their heart and mind knowing better. There is sadness in your lines that speak from experience and a wounded heart. So many will relate. Touching words expressed.

Betrayal from a loved one is like a dagger piercing your soul... your description of his behavior is cold and vivid....and yours is fraught with anger and dismay...like the dried roses.. and as days passed, your emotions exploded until there were no more tears left...."til the heart implored no more".....
An intense scene you detail here Chris.
Best, B

The worst part is how stupid it makes us feel to have been so trusting, which then diminishes ourselves by diminishing our ability to trust again. Savage circle.

We get so sick when we see the leftover roses of a broken romance.
The roses in this poem are such a powerful symbol of the grief and despair felt when a trusting heart is betrayed.
No more, we say, take them all away. Clear my space.
And yet, sometimes, we melt again...
Feelings of a crushed heart so beautifully expressed, dear Chris.

You are always welcome, dear Chris.
Betrayal and deception by one trusted leaves a deep wound. On the other hand, these people are also educators. For if we can manage to let them go and relegate them successfully to history, we can see how pitiful they were and be glad they are gone.

Such a poem dear Chris... such power. the true power of true femininity. that what makes us beautiful, we are wounded once, then we are more stronger knowing our worth. I adore this, because as I've said for me the true feminine essence flowing secretly behind your lines.

Dear Chris, you bled emotions into the words.
"while decay set in my dismay grew
greener and unforgiving"
The above lines. I liked and they are true. Somethings we cannot forget. We learn to live with. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

the emptiness felt when something like this happens is virtually impossible to describe. though your poem odes a very good job of that. Life is full of betrayals but when it is someone you love, at first it is hard to believe...we usually deny to ourselves, but when the truth comes out it is like a dagger to the heart. The only good thing is this metaphorical dagger is something we can heal from...completely? No, I know a scar will remain, but we can move on and reclaim that happiness that another ripped from us. Sorry, I got a little carried away there. This was sad and so well crafted. Nicely done Chris
