Serenity

Serenity

A Poem by Chris Shaw

how that Goring bridge glows gold
as the sinking sun goes down
in a blaze of burnished bright
in a world that's upsidedown

while the geese in convoy swim
upstream in the fading light
bouquets of the river banks
hide their beauty to the night

stars though find the time to shine
as the pale moon shows her face
crystal waters of the weir
drift in patterns like fine lace

Goddess Gaia you I praise
bless your gifts on doldrums days

I love the imagery of the bridge leading off to the blazing sinking sun, it left me with a feeling of otherworldliness, reinforced by the mention of the Goddess Gaia in the final lines. Wonderful as always Chris, I hope you’re enjoying this magnificent summer.

I love the scene you of the bridge, the river and the geese traveling to another place..... flowers on the river bank, and as dusk creeps in, the sight of the water pattern changes... And thankful that Gaia the Goddess has the capacity to create this perfect painting.
Lovely.

her comment, that everything on earth is interconnected
has basically been proved recently by a forestry, scientist, prof. from British Columbia who wrote a book on the value/role of the Mother tree
