Give Me The Roses Keep The Guns

Give Me The Roses Keep The Guns

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

1987 Guns and Roses

"
I danced for him
in nothing but a pair of
cheek hugging flimsy
shorts

with a camisole see
through top with
shoestring straps

yes I danced and played
air guitar to sweet
child of mine

and this bright summer
morn I danced again
wild and wrapped
in a full length
dressing gown

I'll take the roses

So beautiful and so wonderful dear Chris.
"and this bright summer
morn I danced again
wild and wrapped
in a full length
dressing gown"
The above lines were my favorite. We need many dances and many memories to keep hope and love alive. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Dancing in Moonbeams can be enchanting… as Stars twinkle of entangled Emotions… tenderly, Pat

What a sweet love song. Lucky guy. I love the title, so clever. the last stanza solidifies the poem for me. "I danced again/wild and wrapped... how love can be timeless if we're among the fortunate. which sadly it seems so many are not, at least from much of what I read here

How cheeky! Did this all happen at one of their concerts? Short shorts rock!

Did not know you were such a wild child. Cheek hugging flimsy shorts? See through top? Indeed! I'm certainly glad to hear your dressing gown was full length.

There you go John. Even the quiet ones have their moments. Have a good day.

So carefree and open, full of life and warm. A memory of joy and rapture. Roses such a wonderful image and to be taken just as we are. Well written Chris
