All We Were

All We Were

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

a spontaneous write, muse is happy

"
he writes of stained glass
cathedrals and arcs
all that is holy
touching divine

while i without wisdom
do worship the sun
pulsating on fire
blazing in light

however our endings
when all said and done
will find us together
our future's as one

our mortal remains
whipped up by the wind
will settle when ready
on earth's failing crust

destined forever
in centuries from now
all that we were
fine blended in dust

All of us will become part of the earth again dear Chris.

I adored the above lines and the complete poem. Like a Alan Poe poem. Honest and worthwhile words shared.

Yes, your poem is oh so true dear Chris...and what is on the mind of many of us... We all want to enjoy today and not think about yesterday or tomorrow...easier said then done...especially for us...poets...

Has the sound of two paths that ran parallel for a while, then diverged. The attraction must have strong though, for it is recalled quite fondly here. The last stanzas take the long view, that all things merge in time. Quite moving piece here.

dear Chris… time eternal will be Poetry splashing on the Waves of Time. Cathedrals with Saints reflecting Colors of Rainbows… Poets will capture the Beauty thereof… gently, Pat

Stained glass and cathedrals always do something to my imagination, it sort of slows me down and makes me feel so humble .For yes, centuries from now ( will we still be here ?) we, and the cathedrals will be dust beyond the ether ...

Lovely way to view you and one other in this way. Thank you. Several years since I was in Coventry Cathedral, which most people in the world will have heard of (I lived in Coventry for 18 years). Not a believer but can admire its much-loved stained glass. And, of course, there is the sun. We can use our imaginations and see it as a wonderful father.

You're welcome!
All things in time, pass. We must find contentment in the now because tomorrow is never promised. If destiny bequeaths it, it shall be. In my opinion there is too much worry in tomorrow and too much regret in yesterday. But eventually, everything will be as it should. Or, as Bob Marley liked to sing, "Every little thing's gonna' be alright. Cheers to the happy muse. I enjoyed the read.
