All We Were

All We Were

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

a spontaneous write, muse is happy

"
he writes of stained glass
cathedrals and arcs
all that is holy
touching divine

while i without wisdom
do worship the sun
pulsating on fire
blazing in light

however our endings
when all said and done
will find us together
our future's as one

our mortal remains
whipped up by the wind
will settle when ready
on earth's failing crust

destined forever
in centuries from now
all that we were
fine blended in dust

All of us will become part of the earth again dear Chris.
"our mortal remains

I adored the above lines and the complete poem. Like a Alan Poe poem. Honest and worthwhile words shared.

Nicely expressed write, we all have many paths here but I believe we go to another plane within the universe of light ;-]

Much truth in your words Dave. None of us escape the inevitable. Thank you.

surprises me Chris .. such fatalism and loss of life in the Spirit .. for those who don't believe in the here after ... a romantic thread of life ... death ... The End. :{

Very whimsical and deep as thoughts go my friend. He writes of stained glass while you worship the sun but in the end, we all will meet at the same place, beneath the crust of the earth. So true too. It doesn't matter who we are or what we do or like...that is where we will be. really cool Chris.

So is this reader. Happy muse, happy reader. If only our mortal remains could fertilize our salvation. What I see in the news about the condition of the crust is pretty scary. I do need to disagree on one point, you obviously have wisdom. I like the way five or six syllables creates a pace in this poem.

"Life is our unique artistic stage
Everyone sings their song and leaves the stage
But the scene stands still"
We will turn to the dust, rich or poor, bad or good but the difference is that how we affected this cycle?
A good write Chris.
Have a beautiful day

Yes, we all must return to mother earth in the long run, Chris. I'm not being morbid here, but the older we get the more we ponder our own mortality, I find. At least we are all in it together, old or young... rich or poor... we shall all share a common final scene! On a more cheerful note, we can hopefully experience many fine moments and memories between our first days and our last. We all live different lives, with different experiences and often different beliefs, but there is real quality in life if we look for it. Your final stanza made me smile, with mixed feelings of sadness and joy! A lovely thought that the dust of our earthly remains will eventually be fine blended with others. All equal in death! A poem to ponder and enjoy!
