Je Reviens

Je Reviens

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

I don't do love poems, but my muse does.

"
i will return
says the perfume
a promise in a
bottle of midnight
blue....

today for the sake
of old times
she wore it anew
with a pledge

its fragrance is lasting
it lingers........

yes it lingers for you.......

green floral
with a hint of narcissus
and a touch of english rose
I suppose she is saying
something as old as
the Malvern Hills

there for all time
refreshed
drenched in summer's rain
where there is love
patient darling
there is also pain

I loved the above lines. The smell of a easy perfume, we cannot forget, if allowed to enjoy. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Hello again Chris,
The French title 'I Will Return' caught my eye and your introduction made me smile -- if truth is known I think both you and your muse had a part in this poem. ;) Though you do not write love poems it is clear your words don't know about it when we read the sweet whiff of bouquet to romance from your beautiful mind and heart.
Once more there is the treat of your here and there rhymes effectively placed in lines and verse -- it is so catchy I must give it a try, if you do not mind my boldness using your style.
To quote -- 'Love is a many splendored thing' but 'There is a fine line between love and hate' for the joy of love can so quickly turn to pain. But as Lord Alfred Tennyson said ''Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.'
I think you said it best,

there for all time
refreshed
drenched in summer's rain
where there is love
patient darling
there is also pain

Jealously comes to mind while reading your poetry.
Your muse writes a beautiful love poem and I love it!
A luscious hint of your blended perfume just breezed in,

Chris,

Beautiful, but very sad lines set to pen of page here, made clear from these lovely but revealing lines: "where there is love
patient darling
there is also pain"

Lovely poem, Chris. It is true; where there is love...there is also pain. Especially for those who love deeply. Remnants of the scent of perfume can linger and be reminders of the love that once was. Very nice write! I enjoyed it. Temp

dear Chris... this is so romantic... perfume with the scent of Narcissus and Rose lingers... long after the Midnight hour. You are like an Artist who paints with a kiss. gently, Pat

I remember smelling the same perfume on a girl on the train that my first girlfriend wore. It immediately brought me back to her, wondering where she was these days.

Where there is love, there is also pain. Romantic love, with its expectations and disappointments, is a breeding ground for pain. This kind of love is a product of the human heart, where desire and depreciation forever co-exist.

Such a thoughtful response John. Thank you so much.

I enjoyed this poem very much, Chris. So tender and emotional. I think it’s written so that one reads it slowly and thoughtfully. It’s a good thing for us that your muse does love poems!
