Glorious

Glorious

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(written after last night's amazing sunset)

"
it's not often that days
come gift wrapped with
ribbons of gold

that's why today will be
memorable and the sun
thought so too

as that magnificent orb
of molten fire appeared
magnified ten fold

in the evening sky
smiling at me before
that last blissful kiss

slipping out of sight
reluctantly with a promise
of more heat on the morrow

dearest Chris… yesterday was Hot and Humid… Today at Six AM.. it is Overcast; however, our tall bright Red Rise Crepe Myrtle Tree has grown very High and can be seen from our Master bedroom through our Large Window and appears like a stained glass window in a Cathedral. A Poets Paradise. 💗 love and best wishes, Pat

Glorious! yes! sunsets are magical times Chris, aren't they ? Even here in the UK.
You would have been watching exactly the same sunset as I, although a couple of hundred miles away.
The trouble with sunrises at this time of year is that they are so early therefore, I'm guessing many people miss them. However they are equally glorious - a sunset in reverse.

Kind regards, Alan

I particularly liked your opening stanza that points to rarity by metaphor.

our sun is certainly a thing of beauty
a mixture of life giving and life taking
i spend more time looking out the window than surfing in the sun's glory

Marvellous dear Chris how you capture so well this memorable vision. Shades of JMW Turner with this one I feel.
