Enfin

Enfin

A Poem by Chris Shaw

"
let it be
let it go
let it melt
like winter snow

did you know
she once adored you
though she didn't
tell you so

yes indeed she prized
you dearly
more than trees
more than flowers
more than falling crystal raindrops
as they fell in summer showers

more than rivers flowing freely
on meanders to the sea
or the bees that court
sweet lavender
in purple passion seams

yet those drifting mists
at daybreak that obscure what's
going on and the chattering
of treetops brought a different
kind of song

along came nature's warning
as the waking sky grew red
all that loving turned to anger
as the hour glass was fed

with unwelcome doubts
at sunrise
with the whispers on the wind
it's all over storm clouds rumbled
it's all over storm clouds said

I can't believe it! Not only I just reviewed your poem using "let it be" but also more than one word/thought here I used in my new poem (still unpublished working on it). Something to admire, something not to be read and wander through it, but to feel it to the core... something this Petal wishes to write like it. your tenderness, your heart, your power, your courage and strength, all radiate with sheer magnetic beauty. yes my dear, one day, one morning, the heart will wake to know what it deserves is joy and love not tormentment. Sublime.. .

Chris you made me think of the famous song "Let It Be" and many joyous memories of mine were reviewed.
Your use of nature's significant symbols are fascinating.
Thanks for sharing it.

lovely metaphors chris. love that 4th para.
that's what can happen to any love.... my father left my mother when he was 87 & she was 80, for a new & much younger new love. divorce & a new marriage followed, new wife (younger than my younger sister!) changed my father for the better, I got to know a totally new father for the last 9 years of life. I'm still in touch with gerlinde today, terrific person, I can see why he left my mother.

Such an interesting share here Carola, pleased you called. Many thanks.

Chris, this is beautifully sad. From the opening lines to the closing you told your story of a love that was so strong and wonderful then, you woke up and saw it wasn’t and so you parted ways. I could apply this poem to my life. It is so creatively done. Very good read my friend. Temp

I agree with J the B's excellent comment, especially on his remark re the first four lines. Yes, simplicity, but what he calls "an excellent mantra". Thanks, CS.

Nice, too, to see someone's from here in the good old UK! :)
The first four lines are an excellent mantra that could be used to deal with many of life's problems. In the poem they are directed toward a complicated relationship between the speaker and someone who was possibly close, possibly a family member. It appears there was some kind of a rift between them that is emphasized in the closing lines. Yet these lines conflict with assurances of love earlier in the poem. Human relationships can be very complex and contradictory.

I love how it starts out simple and clean and gradually ramps up. My favorite was verse 4.

You have to Let it Go , it’s like clay you can’t make a beautiful clay pot out of , it just lays around ,
Forget it , buy some new clay
