Don't know how I missed this one Chris, but beautifully written.
Gives me thoughts of how a woman brings us all into the world and the birth pain isn't the only pain they feel, but the pain of having to do better than the last generation did.
She did do an okay job though, didn't she? 😊
Beautifully penned, as ever.

Beautiful poem Chris, motherhood is so multi dimensional, I only know bits and pieces of the complexity of mothers, motherhood. Losing a mother is like having the last of the safety nets removed, while walking lifes tightrope.

I have a lump in my throat, tears in my eyes. Even after leaving, Mothers never leave. Its a bond that's eternal. You captured the essence of motherhood so completely, my friend. Her empty chair is a forever reminder of her everlasting love.

It can also be very difficult to capture in words. This was a very spontaneous write. The lines just fell out of nowhere. I think my mum gifted them to me. Thank you so much R for a lovely review.
Such great words in this metaphor. I loved the whole of it but the last stanza really stands out.
"in birth i was your pain
in death you remain with me
until tomorrow's last farewell
when the tides will set you free"
Very nice Chris

Yes, this is without doubt a lovely bit o poetry .. absolutely and unconditionally filled with love .. One of those I know for sure you wish upon wish you had not been required to write, as yet that is .. but then, we each know upon know just how lucky we have been to have enjoyed a mothers love for as long as we each did .. and I do sincerely believe that that love transcends and otherwise goes far beyond that which we have known to date .. I am so glad I have bee n able to leave a little something of my own thoughts here Chris ................. Neville

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
