Another Lovely Day

Another Lovely Day

A Poem by Chris Shaw

as sun glare burns bright
energising bones weary from
coolness of recent June days

a mallard lazes on the pontoon
absorbing the early morning heat
dozing in half sleep

willows in the distance dip their
tumbling tresses into the river's
mirror reflection

while a single feather in its softness
a white purity caresses the surface water
with a light morning kiss

there is bliss for those who dwell
in moods of blue if they take off their
shoes and dance to nature's gift

how uplifting is this coming our way
what's more not a penny to pay for
gazing on sights set before our eyes

This one could be read as an antidote to a stressful day's work and then a bout of evening rush hours traffic. The word pictures conjure up images of peacefulness in the mind. And, as the poem states, they are all without charge. Forget the iPhones and just go outside for a while.

So serene and uplifting on Nature's scale. I'm not for crowds, traffic jams and noise. I enjoy walks, hikes, swimming, camping, canoeing, sight seeing in nature, enjoying God's handiwork.
From what I see from pics, Britain has some unique and beautiful places to behold.
It takes a talent to describe all of that like yourself.

sounds like you are not into sweating through rush hour traffic, with steam rising off burning black pavement and middle finger greetings all round

I was there enjoying nature with you. Your imagery puts us right there and, how beautiful it is. I want to dip my toes in the water and relax. I have enjoyed this read very much, Ms. Chris. Thank you!
