Staying Alive

Staying Alive

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(a true story I might add, a volume of poetry titled Staying Alive)

"
a pilot wasp
on nuisance alert
invades once peaceful
afternoon space

doing a loop de loop
in a confined cabin
in and out of corners
nose diving at speed

irritation levels raised
sight and sound sky high
with kami kaze intentions
while i duck and dive

no violence inflicted
my patience got stuck in
expecting a long haul display
yet an hour later

comeuppance appeared
out of a cloud of sympathy
as if by magic
waspie made his landing

on a flight path cover
titled Staying Alive
sadly poor waspie could not read
met his end
and promptly died

dear Chris… a well versed Saga of a Wasp. Just a few days ago, I was rearranging Pots of Flowers on our Patio and a Wasp attacked my Hand… it really Hurt. I ran in the House and Roger Asked You-Tube on our Smart TV.. “How to Treat a Wasp Sting. The answer was to press fresh Lemon juice on the Spot… it soothed the Sting immediately.. so I kept it pressed on my Hand for 20 minutes. I appreciate your Poem.. as you can Surmise. tenderly, Pat

I am somehow sad to know that these creatures, though painful, die real soon. Nice write, Chris.

Thanks Ken. They can be such a nuisance can't they? Cheers for the visit.

Chris
I suppose you first tried to reason with it? Listen here, waspy, old boy, your wife, she likes photography? I bet she does I bet she does. A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat.

Or you could have tried Silly Walk or just returned the darn thing to the pet store. Beautiful plumage.
Feeling silly,
