Lure of Nightfall

Lure of Nightfall

A Poem by Chris Shaw

behold the lure of twilight
the rise and fall of waves
all of this is short lived
as night paves way for day

moonlight floods salt water
embraces moody sea
with flecks of silvered sequins
shimmering back at me

standing atop a cliff edge
with a view across this bay
all of this is fleeting
as night paves way for day

Hi Chris. This reminds me of something that I would try write when I was younger and full of love for the natural world, but I could never feel like I "pulled it off" so to speak. You do. This poem of experience just fills you up effortlessly. What I think I'm trying to say is that in reading each line, I felt I could have a nice glass of whiskey and stare off that cliff practically forever. HA, funny things is we know a bottle don't last that long. I really like this one.

The darkness of night overcome by the light of a new day. Oh, only if life were as beautiful always as the light of dawn.
Your words just seem to flow and spread like the rising sun over the dew kissed meadows.
Beautiful words again!

Everything is fleeting away, isn’t it Chris? I enjoyed reading this poem cos I want to behold all that’s fleeting without us noticing…
Thank you for giving us these special moments…the twilight.

Shimmering silvered sequins! That walk between dusk and nightfall, that twilight reverie, that's the place to be! More than the traffic battle, the sun in your eyes and the rush hour madness. A look out high above the horizon, that is a vantage point that soothes and breathes and heals. This is the kind of life many envision. And for many an egg carton existence is what reality brings. This is such a lovely poem. Thanks for sharing, Chris. /Frederick.

Nice cadence in this poem. Night sweeps the street for day which chews up the road till night takes light away. Cool idea!
