Where The Snowdrops Grow

Where The Snowdrops Grow

A Poem by Chris Shaw

that light feather touch
so gentle on a cool cheek
in a grey winter garden
struggling to find spring

a breath from nowhere
as a birch tree's tangled tresses
bow in silent serenity
i felt your presence

a spirit in passing
where the snowdrops grow
with their show of white skirts
i miss you

OMG! just saw your poem, i've just finished writing one about snowdrops. you're very good on metaphors.
i don't think they grow here naturally, only in pots, probably much better where it's a bit cooler like in tasmania.
will publish mine in a day or two when I get the images just how I want them to be.

Such a tasty touch upon the Tonge, soft words of caring. --- I saw snowflakes, was I supposed to? :)

Everything in nature conspires to remind us of those we love and miss. When a garden in winter is covered with snow and spring is nowhere in sight, the colors of life seem all the more subdued and memories glow. I hope the spring smiles upon the lovely garden soon, dear Chris. Beautifully worded.

There was once a spot that was sacred to me. A spot where lillies bloomed and love made every day a summer paradise. They bulldozed it a decade ago.
Like the gardener, only memories remain. As Johnny Cash sang, I still miss someone. Nicely done.

dearest Chris... my Heart is touched with tenderness as blossoms are appearing... and will surely cling to memories... We are expecting Snow this weekend... so your poetry will be our Song... the softness of snowdrops will fall upon the Petals of moments that flowed endlessly for a Lifetime of tenderness. Blessings remain... gently, Pat

I know your mother passed on recently (my condolences), and I think this poem is a tribute to her. Those who have left this place for another live on in the memories of those who loved them, and sometimes in other ways. Where there is love, there is life.
