Eye of the SunA Poem by Chris Shaw(For Stuart Beattie Cullen, first anniversary, my brother-in-law)as morning yawned pale sun stretched out sleep clung to fine cloud lashes rock pond was dark its surface still no sign of welcome splashes a perky robin came in sight a visit unexpected to quench his thirst that little bird thought he was undetected you filtered through a year has passed like mist your soul has risen while my sad sister's sorrowed eyes have gained a lake like glisten i'm sure your spirit sees it too though waves of grief will soften the love that binds the pair of you is shatterproof and diamond bright you're gone but ne'er forgotten
