There is no point in freedom of speech if there is no honesty in that speech. Come what may, you must be true to yourself. To do otherwise is to sell your soul to the devil. The fact that we have a media complicit with politicians and the government to the point of suppression is the ultimate betrayal of the American people and our Constitution. I think that poets are the last of the truth seekers and truth speakers. It has always been that way. We do not write for praise nor money nor fame. We write from the soul.

We all owe our society to your tiny Isle. From your country came everything good in us. Culture, Music, Education. We are where we come from in the end.

I was unaware of this young gentleman's poetry until reading your lovely poem on his art. So I went and researched his writing, one of which you referenced. Both Elegy and The Housedove I found very moving and incredibly poignant pieces of art. You captured poetically the short life of this poet. And paid a kind homage to his inspired works. Thank you Chris for this heartfelt tribute you have painted for the artistry of this long since past poet.

The history of these isles is so captivating, it’s built upon so many people who had such different ideas, beliefs or perhaps they were just ambitious. What Chris reminds us here, in such poetic fashion is that these folk from history who we maybe demonise now were just people who made a choice.
A wonderful reminder. Great writing Chris.

I thought about my grandson Robbie. We have great debates, but we hold very different views about life. We are all people who make choices. Some of them can have terrible consequences. Many thank yous for your thoughtful review.
Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
