A Text Too Many

A Text Too Many

A Poem by Chris Shaw

out of the blue
from the forests of time
a message was left
it would be good to talk
.
concisely short
a bullseye dart
pointed and poisoned
it grazed on my heart
.
nostalgia it carried
on a cool autumn breeze
i remembered how once
i was brought to my knees
.
so what do you want
from your fine Surrey garden
maybe the chablis is
seeking my pardon
.
on a warm afternoon
i could easily be swayed
except i recalled
i was dumped and betrayed
.
so i chose to ignore you
and didn't reply
yet not without wiping
a tear from each eye
.

this is unusually good but not at all unusual .. and I don't mean that you just wrote a bloomin good bit o poetry .. its good to talk and from both a personal and professional perspective, I am acutely aware that so many problems start from the moment a silence is first conceived ..................... Its ironic how oftentimes we receive closure in writing and poetry that real life situations could not give. Nice write.

Even our phones can't shelter us from heartbreak. Viva la technology!
All jokes aside, pain well expressed here. Betrayal by one we idolized is hardest to ignore. Nicely written.

When the past comes calling (or texting) just tell it you're with your future at the moment and can't get back to them. (smile) I enjoyed this immensely. F.

Very, very nice. No one wants the hurt, much less to have the wound reopened. Made me think of a few moments of my own, articulated so much better than I ever could.
Thank you for writing this, so sorry for your pain.

Chris, I love this from you….an unhappy memory regurgitating from a poisonous note, something you wanted to forget was brought up again and it felled your heart….you really bring this to life with the words you chose to write…..no one wants to have a sting to their soul, written in a note to make you sad.
You really told him off Chris and now perhaps he will disappear from your life forever. Nice work!
Best to you, B.
