let there always
always be
this glare from sunlight
on the sea
that lifts all spirits
in distress
that calms and soothes
all restlessness
to sprinkle sparkle
where the mood
of brooding clouds
have done their best
to hamper thoughts
of happiness
to sink the soul
beneath the waves
into the ocean's
darkest caves
We experience sunshine and showers in our lives, including a few storms - both literally and metaphorically! The sun usually shines after a storm, even if not straight away. Looking on the bright side can keep us going! The spontaneity is evident in this poem, I think, Chris. Strange how sometimes we can labour over a poem for days or even weeks (at least, that is often my experience), and yet some poems can be dashed off in 10 minutes or so, with little if any re-writing to be done! A fine write!

Oh my! This is just an amazing, uplifting poem. Not only does it present beautiful images but the words simply dance off the tongue. Would be a great poem to read out loud at a writers group or forum. :-))

Yes, let there always be light. Light is found in works such as this that flow naturally from the spirit. While it's important to acknowledge both the darkness and the light, light always wins in the end.

Yes, in the summer I took a needed break as I had too much to do in the real world, sorting out my late mother's estate and preparing an aunt's home for sale. Still much to do, but broken the back of it now thankfully. All the best to you.
This made me think of a witch's curse ... but Glinda, the GOOD witch. Or Danu or Cerridwen or Morgan Le Fay perhaps.
Words that flow so beautifully seems to gather energy, and thats what magic IS- moving energy around.

I love everything about this poem, Chris. The rhyming is super and the alliteration makes the words jump off the page. I love watching the sun playing in waves of the ocean. There is a hypnotic effect from it. I could picture it all as I read your words. Excellent! Lydi**

I love the imagery here! It takes me back to days I spent at the ocean, waking up on the beach to watch the sunrise, staring at the light that reflects off the waters are indeed soothing and calming. Lovely write
