No Room For Manoeuvre

No Room For Manoeuvre

A Poem by Chris Shaw

look at the righteous
standing in a flood of glory
haloes polished to dazzling
perfection

even their reflection
in still waters requires shades
to dim the blaze of bright light
blinding in brilliance

they own the monopoly
on what's right you know
their way is always best
never a doubt never a niggle

never wriggle room for
an alternative point of view
or consideration there's merit
in what the rest of us think
yet alone do

rock solid can't be moved
stuck in the groove of a straight
jacket strangling
squeezing

every ounce of breath
no quick death here
long and drawn out
retribution they say
make them pay

make them beg for mercy
for indiscretions
of the past make them pay
there is only one way
to live

Dear Chris, we live in a messy world.
"make them beg for mercy
for indiscretions
of the past make them pay
there is only one way
to live"
Once I thought I had nothing and I met people who had less. Water and food was a great blessing to them. In a world of so many dying from starvation. Forgotten in the messy world of war and the wealthy. I enjoyed the poem. You made the reader ponder and think. I pray the bad people will pay somewhere. Thank you for sharing your amazing poetry and your thoughts.

So many with opinions these days, I say follow your heart and the way God may be leading you. I for one am no person to judge another as I'm still struggling on my own winding road ;-] Love your words, see it brings out all these thoughts in me ;-]

Thank you Weeping willow for sharing your thoughts. You are appreciated.

It’s all rather ironic in a politically correct world that politicians carry on still in a very opinionated mode. Nicely written as always Chris.

Hello, Christine! :)
This does bring politicians to mind. I like my congressman, but the rest are just hot air to me. I guess people enjoy the hot air though, otherwise the politicians wouldn't be outgassing. Haha

Ah, those who start every sente ce with "Well, I just think..." then continuing to prove they don't and are just making noise to fill the vaccous silence between their ears. It's always those with the least to say that say it so loudly in the hope people will notice their awesomeness, which is usually nowhere to be seen.
Must be a tragically sad life to pretend review yourself and still not agree, but at least it proves that you can indeed start a fight in an empty house, and they often do 😊
