Images Altered

Images Altered

A Poem by Chris Shaw

skyscape shows smokey greys
vistas awash in a sea of blandness

lights blend into darker hues
shades of insipid seen in between

craggy summits surrounded by
uninhabitable shapes of land mass

ridges rise tall standing proud
in their whispered beauty

ascending to a never ending story
yet the wind plays its soft music

it tickles edges with gentle breath
it stirs at hems of mist filled lakes

barely noticeable are altered states
so slowly does movement occur

mountain ranges become curves
height disappears, plateaus appear

as wind taps with its own baton and
conducts a lively symphony

as pace quickens out scuttles
cloud revealing a clear cobalt sky

Breathtaking images that one can easily imagine through your wonderful descriptive poetry. I literally felt as if I were flying through those clouded skies searching for the blueness of heaven. Thank you, Chris, for your imaginative poem.

I did dear Chris and you are welcome.
I hope you were viewing this amazing imagery! I love the words you use to describe the peaks, plateaus, the ridges, the craggy summits; I feel as if I could very well be standing right beside you. I use a lot of cobalt blue in my paintings, and it's one of my favorite colors. YAY!
Lovely poem, as always Chris.
Truly yours, B.

So are you!
I told You before You are the master of painting, and this shows how amazing your talent can be.

"skyscape shows smokey greys
vistas awash in a sea of blandness"

"ascending to a never ending story
yet the wind plays its soft music"

"as wind taps with is own baton and
conducts a lively symphony"

those would be my favorite lines, and I am not sure but I feel a melancholic tune through your words, a heart that captured both the landscape as well as the wistful feelings of earth. your title like always is chosen brilliantly.

as usual....we get high definition imagery from you....and we go to the places and see from the same vantage point from which you have seen.

Thank you J. Cloud gazer me, star gazer too. Have a great weekend.

Chris
At first I thought I was reading a description of a painting, but as the poem progressed I realized the speaker was viewing an actual sky with the permutations that characterize it. The imagery is beautiful, allowing us to picture it in our minds like an inner picture show. The movement of the clouds at the end remind us of the ongoing changes of our lives. The clouds may drift and contort, but the cobalt sky is always there.

dearest Chris.. we often see profiles of loved ones
in the formation of clouds... walking through fields of Lavender...
we hear laughter in the hereafter. tenderly, Pat

Description of my favourite past-time of staring into the distance and seeing the ever changing landscape change in front of your eyes as light and shade do their never ending dance.
My favourite places are all rugged landscapes where angles change and shapes form from shadows and they never look the same twice.
Lovely write Chris. So much so that I'll forgive you for the title reminding me of altered images, aka Claire Grogan and that godawful happy birthday song. She's one export we don't want back 😊
