Holed By The Sun

Holed By The Sun

A Poem by Chris Shaw

shafts of blinding brightest rays
break through disintegrating cloud
to gleam upon unsettled surf

bursting through blackened mass
holed with a gift of future promise
dusky sky stirs into spotlight action

angel waterfalls pour forth
liquid molten gold holds sail boats
in a loose embrace for safekeeping

upon choppy waters they dance to
inclement weather's moody tune
so small in a sea of vastness

in the vastness of a huge expanse
threatens ever threatening
searching with a menacing eye

reach out to grasp what's left
light is worth all saving when
darkness invades peaceful living

Hi Chris, another outstanding piece, the light is our hope and our life. I love the way you use the metaphor of the light in this wonderful piece of beautiful poetry. The light can ever penetrate the darkness in our lives, it gives faith, hope and life. I ever reach for the light. Such wonderful poetry, Chris.

Hi Chris, you've transformed that old saying, "It's always darkest before the dawn," with your trademark splash of living colors, another treat for my mind's eye :)

This is incredible, Chris.
Light saves our sight from darkness.
Light is life. Who can do without it?
God knows this, that's why the sun is there to save our day. Imagine traveling on a boat under the moonlight, then compare it with the one without. That's the difference.

Light, so sought yet so hard to grasp at times...I find light can be as threatening as the dark. Love this dear Chris...the light is a wonderful feeling to hold on to :)

Every line is just so utterly ineffable. I can't express words as to how beautifully you could bestow with eye-catching details in every line. This is just tremendous to read from first to last.

This offering seems to be about nature at first, describing vividly the approach of a storm in a coastal area. The last two stanzas, though, seem to allude symbolically to the way trauma can suddenly present into peaceful lives. After all, the sudden storms of life can adversely affect us all.
