Life Cycles

Life Cycles

A Poem by Chris Shaw

when a bud bursts into leaf
in the green hope of spring
to grow all summer through
in a glorious canopy of shade
before autumn finds it falling
leafless in winter's bareness
we are reminded of cycles
and rejoice in their wonder

Ah yes, the cycles of nature. I was upstairs in my room the other day when I looked out my window at the gigantic deciduous trees that have been fully green since Spring. "John!" I exclaimed, "the leaves are already turning color!" It was only August 20, but I guess Autumn is coming.

As usual, you find beauty in nature, and here the beauty is not only in the images, but in the truth they portray. Cycles mean continuation, as opposed to the abrupt endings of the straight line. It is the surface mind that thinks linearly. The deeper mind perceives cycles.

Hello, Christine! :)
I like your phrasing here, and how you captured the seasons in a leaf, and captured life in the seasons. Thanks for sharing.
