Life Cycles

Life Cycles

A Poem by Chris Shaw

when a bud bursts into leaf
in the green hope of spring
to grow all summer through
in a glorious canopy of shade
before autumn finds it falling
leafless in winter's bareness
we are reminded of cycles
and rejoice in their wonder

Ah yes, the cycles of nature. I was upstairs in my room the other day when I looked out my window at the gigantic deciduous trees that have been fully green since Spring. "John!" I exclaimed, "the leaves are already turning color!" It was only August 20, but I guess Autumn is coming.

Life is full of cycles that continue on and keep circling around. I love the use of leaves in this poem to show the cycle of life that keeps repeating and renewing time and time again. I love the bidding of spring and the blossoms of summer.

Excellent Chris this thoughtful musing on the rotation of the Seasons - how the time rushes by - unseasonably chilly here in Bristol though.

Knowing Autumn is coming, or spring or summer is the surest thing we know in this mixed up world anymore.

Like a tree, we are born, go through storms, and live until we are old and die. And on that day we fall like leaves, someone else is born. Truly a life cycle.

wow i love the short piece, Life Cycles I'm getting old but young at heart but the title got me because I thought it would give me insight of the the life I've lived no it took me off guard but woke me yes life so simply we sometimes we take for granted great job on bring these words together i could visualize the fog touch a leaf and become water, forget spring here comes summer then winter and here we go again, but yes I'm grateful and this from a short poem life is what you make it. thank you for sharing. mauricio

We are reminded of the cycles of life and nature's heartbeat, pulsing and reverberating through our ever changing scene. It's apt that the seasons are so interchangeable at the minute, somehow echoing our own life at being out of lock down but too unseasonal to go anywhere and enjoy it. Is that a catch 22 or sods law? Hmm, my head thinky thing be hurting now 😜
