your poem puts a big smile on me face Christine! what a fine love you speak of ... and a pretty good relationship too! Norma and i were on the same pages politically and spiritually so on those we preached to the choir when talking about world happenings .. but on people .. she relied on her Italian "spider sense" and held those snap opinions as etched in stone where i took a long time to decide that someone may not be the greatest person in the world .. both qualities of strength and weakness ;) love your poem .. made me think of Norma

Married to John now for 38 years. We get along well but like all couples have our moments. This loving tribute to him I couldn't help but end the way I did. My wicked sense of humour came out to play. I also have some Italian in me but it is well diluted now. Going back I think to the 17th century. Italians that made their way to Britain. Many thanks Mr E for visiting this one :)

Very lovely and true to the word. Beautiful expression of individual freedom within the confines of a loving relationship. Happy Anniversary!

Thank you, new to this site and feeling my way along.
dear Chris... I love to read poems with romantic
gestures... the depth of your words gilded in humor
are priceless... a golden 14 caret heart to entwine the
love bespoken. The last line--"and you my darling are the one
to suffer that forever"... truly, Pat

Wow what a poem on the day of anniversary! Yes a rose with a thorn that our partner has to bear... But rose petals of love are more shiny and bears more fragrant than those little pricks:))really wonderful poem

Your sense of humour is way too good! I appreciate it so much...
“although at times we disagree
does not mean i'm mistaken
it simply states that i am free”
Beautiful, and droll, tribute dear Chris. Yes, an enduring love, one for all time, allows both partners to breathe and grow individually, as well as together. Your wise lines so well and concisely describe this for us in great language, form, cadence, rhyme and flow. Love this my friend!
