“from bleakest night comes brightest day
when rays of sun break through at dawn”
Beautifully penned lines dearest Chris. Your words float upon the day as a graceful prayer to Gaia, an extolling of her comfort to man, each morning renewed. Great message, imagery, metaphor, rhyme, cadence, alliteration… Master Class write my friend!

Hi Chris, the nearest I can get to figuring this (apart from it being poetry)
is to suggest that it is in praise of death and being ' interred ' (the Latin Gaia)
On second thoughts (before I dig myself into a hole)
a more realistic view would that it refers to a garden and the work involved in such would be a '' healing balm''
No, I'm back to Gaia - mother Earth - she certainly welcomes with open arms never refuses and in our turn we nourish it by becoming fertilizer.

Gaia seems to be a healer of sorts; a lovely poem, touches my soul; I guess we all look forward to a soothing balm to help us through the day; song birds can awaken us with a bit of joy to help our saddest hearts. You have touched us all with this poem of the spirits.

Thankyou Christine foryour optimistic outlook in this thoughtful poem. It reminded me of an old song from my younger days by Johnny Mercer and is my favourite "mantra "

Eliminate the negative

It may not solve the problems, but at least you can appreciate what you have, and keep a clear sight on what is possible.

What a year last year was, and this one hasn't got off to a brilliant start either. Looking for much needed light at the end of the tunnel. Take care and thank you for checking in.
Hopeful and wonderful words shared dear Chris.
"dear Gaia i am full of praise
for you who soothes each weary soul
for you who toils to ease where life
has left the spirit less than whole"
I pray to Gaia often. For opportunity to thank her for the kind gifts I have. I loved the above lines and thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

There is a special moment when waking is an acknowledgement that whatever's gone wrong or not quite right, it just might be that much needed magical day. To hear rain tapping on the window, or see a streak of light on the pane, the world is waiting; that, Chris, is surely what we need. Your words are beautiful, heartfelt, and ~ much needed 'healing balm'. Thank you for sharing..

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
