“from bleakest night comes brightest day
when rays of sun break through at dawn”
Beautifully penned lines dearest Chris. Your words float upon the day as a graceful prayer to Gaia, an extolling of her comfort to man, each morning renewed. Great message, imagery, metaphor, rhyme, cadence, alliteration… Master Class write my friend!

I like your choice of Goddess to whom to make this prayer. If only you had another quatrain you would have a type of sonnet - xaxa, xbxb, (xcxc) dd.
This is a type of rhyme scheme I find less shrill, a more naturalistic sound in my ears. I commend you for this nice piece of writing.

Like a song this poem sings itself to me. This is beautiful and shares a very positive vibe. A wonderfully crafted piece of writing or better yet, piece of art. Really nice Chris

Thine heart has, indeed, set to pen of page a most beautifully majestic and eloquent piece of poetry sublime that shall endure the winds and ravages of time and endear true hearts like thine to each and every word you have so wonderfully spoken -- hearts like mine who enjoyed this poem as inspiring and enthralling to the nth degree's maximum of invigoratingly contemplative, thought provoking, and meditative ... ...

I am a Brit (Border Reiver), or to be more accurate, a Scotsman whose relatives continue to reside in Dumpreshire as the remnants of Clan Graham ... 'Twas the exiled and ousted Border Reiver Clans who brought to America what silly Americans have adoped and come to call the "Old West," but frankly 'twas our ways no longer tolerated and Kings-n-Queens that saw us all ousted to Ulster Ireland to eventually make our way here to places like, Smalltown, Texas ... Thus, my heart is always inclined towards home, 'twere you are and 'twhere you and other Brits do reside ...

I loved this pairing of night and day as a hopeful look at life. The use of Gaia or Terra to sooth us was a great touch. I believe that the earth can sooth us and make us whole. Very nice

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
