A Page Is Turned, Another Morn

A Page Is Turned, Another Morn

A Poem by Chris Shaw

from bleakest night comes brightest day
when rays of sun break through at dawn
when song birds stir the saddest hearts
a page is turned another morn

dear Gaia i am full of praise
for you who soothes each weary soul
for you who toils to ease where life
has left the spirit less than whole

inspire in all a sense of calm
apply with love your healing balm

Beautifully penned lines dearest Chris. Your words float upon the day as a graceful prayer to Gaia, an extolling of her comfort to man, each morning renewed. Great message, imagery, metaphor, rhyme, cadence, alliteration… Master Class write my friend!

Lovely, and so true. Morning is a miracle after a sad-thoughts night.
...Gaia, Earth Goddess, I always learn something in your lines :)

Thank you Ciara. Pleased to have you stop by. Have a great day.

I like your choice of Goddess to whom to make this prayer. If only you had another quatrain you would have a type of sonnet - xaxa, xbxb, (xcxc) dd.
This is a type of rhyme scheme I find less shrill, a more naturalistic sound in my ears. I commend you for this nice piece of writing.

I loved this pairing of night and day as a hopeful look at life. The use of Gaia or Terra to sooth us was a great touch. I believe that the earth can sooth us and make us whole. Very nice
