Nicely captured Chris. If it were a normal year, I'd suspect you were celebrating up here, still dark after 8am and dark again by about 3pm, but I know you are a night owl and kitchen window gazer like myself and watch the day stretch awake, as well as being highly appropriate to the year gone and lives lost.
Let's hope after the worst comes the best... but we'd all just settle for normal, whatever that was. 😊

This is what I would call a glimmer .. offering a tiny chink of light to those who might otherwise be lost .. Neville

A chink of light is a sign of hope for those desperately searching an escape route out of their own private hell. Thanks for letting this one breathe again.
I'd like to think you are being hopeful. That the darkness is the shadow of the pandemic and the glimmer is that of the promised and hoped for vaccine. Of course, the new dawn, when we can all once again be able to enjoy ourselves and our friends.
Take care of yourself and your family - Dave

I think this might be the second poem of yours I've read, since covid vaccines became available, where you express sentiments that are six million times more optimistic than me! (beyond my reach at the moment) But still, I wholeheartedly subscribe to the axiom: the darkest hour is just before dawn. That might be where the USA is right now, approaching 400,000 deaths so fast, with 3000+ dying daily of covid. Thank you for attempting to arrest my severe cynicism (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

It's not good Dave and it isn't getting any better Tough times.
Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
