A Poem by Chris Shaw

for friendship is a cherished gift
it lifts, enriches, outlives time
.
when death destroyed your beating heart
it cast a shadow over mine
.
this morning as i sipped on tea
i swear i saw you wave at me

So touching piece this one, I just loved it. Friendship is a precious gift to treasure and cherish. Once a bond is created it remains with us forever. And no word can describe the void that lingers in our hearts when we lose that friend. I am quite touched by this.

Dear Chris, your wistful and beautiful poem evoked so many feelings in me. What a hole in our hearts and lives death leaves. And so much death all around sadly. Your deft, gentle lines say not too much, but just enough to paint that picture and inspire those musings. The love that we have for our loved ones survives both death and time. It's what we keep. "this morning as i sipped on tea
i swear i saw you wave at me"...I have seen those waves too my friend.

Well, I'm sure it's just a kowinkidink, but I am currently reading the sense of being stared at, by Rupert Sheldrake!
I'd write more, but keep being distracted and looking behind me, just to be sure 😉
Beautiful words Chris, remembering those who are still with us in our hearts.

Wow this is really beautiful and tragic. Loss plays tricks on the mind. Those we truly love and connect to are hard to let go. But always with us in our memories. Thank you for sharing!

This is everything I never remember to say when trying for sentimental words. I have the utmost awe for people like you (& other poet-friends) having the magic to say something so brief, so simple, but capturing the reason why another person means/meant so much to you. To the recipient of such sentiments, its a feeling of being treasured that can't be described (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
