Whispers At Dawn

Whispers At Dawn

A Poem by Chris Shaw

gentle rain falls on a mackintosh day
drips sedately, rolls then disappears

drizzle on glazed glass, cleanses
half heartedly plays with a pane

takes a journey in quiet thought
each raindrop caught like a stitch

knitted, soft white wool, fingers
caress rows of purl, plain, purl, plain

high neck sweater taking shape
on long patient alloy needles

a measure of love for one who
died young, passed prematurely

breathe in.....breathe in deep .....
count to ten....and then again ........

memories from the vaults of wish
wish you were here, wish i, wish i could

have one more kiss ................

Water has memory , every raindrop ever felt reminds me of the people there are in my life , how lucky i am to have them , As u said each raindrop is a vault of treasured memories , with each moment , passes water diffuses into the air and falls as raindrops reminding us of the times that have passed , The fresh air , the earthen smell of the dirt becomes the atmosphere of that profound memory , Thanks for this chris , its a touching read

oh my... delicate .. super fine work setting the scene .. yesterday ... on my walk with Beauregard the Princely Dog ... it was drizzling .. the images playing on the glass .. and i have this misty sort of backdrop inside as she sits knitting ..with alloy needles (i recall me Ma's so easily .. fat, light and worn green) "mackintosh day" ..brilliant Chris .. two words and we have the full Monty of Autumn leaves and trees .. V3 is the turn for me ... an early one but the progression afterwards gently brings me to that place .. the mourning no matter how close or distant .. still stings .. chokes and tears well up .. wonderful work my friend .. super felt this one .. its got it all says i! ;)

"purl, plain, purl, plain" love it...love stitched so carefully with reckless abandon...and the memories bring
that touch, that kiss of sadness with the same reckless abandon.

Breathe in... Breathe in deep... So impactful. Those who gone prematurely left a void in our hearts... And the longing stitches lovely stories.. To keep and soothe with the pain. So melancholic.....

Same to you!
You whispers at dawn are softly heard and your imagery at dawn is calmly observed. I like the imagery of a journey in quiet thoughts. Beautiful, mesmerizing and much needed now in our times. Keep the pen inked and on a roll...
