I really like this. Straight to the point. Some are so caught up in what they are doing, they neglect the ones that just need some time with them. It makes me so sad that my brother who lives just four houses from my elderly Mother comes to see her maybe once a week for about ten minutes. It breaks my heart. I don't understand how someone could do that. Time is so important. Thanks for sharing this poem Chris.

Oh how I love this piece... And how awful I missed this one. Really time is that precious gift that can bring joy into one's heart. Spending quality time is the need of the hour

Dear Sima, thank you for this lovely review. Good to have you visit.
couldn't agree more here.. time is absolutely a devotion that most of us are either succeed to treasure or fruitless to divine... worth reading words you have come up with here.
dear Chris... to be devoted to someone is an honor.
When my Mother passed at age 58... I was so thankful
for the thoughtful things I had done for her, as she had spent most of her years
being thoughtful of her family. She has always been my guiding light.
I try to be thoughtful to others and my family. Caring is a Virtue. truly, Pat

What a tragic situation to lose her at the age of 58. I think we all need to be more caring, especially in these very challenging times. I so appreciate your time visiting me here. Take great care of you and yours.
A brief offering that says a lot. In this grim epoch, caring is desperately needed. Liked especially the last line.

Time indeed the
best gift of all
to be caring and
thoughtful of another
is priceless even the
smallest effort to
reach out and touch
someone with a kind
word or two is a blessing
for both the giver and receiver
much said here in this

This is the crux of what's missing from so much of this world's discourse. Remember when people used to write letters & visit & have group dinners & drop by to take an old person shopping? Sure, we're limited by distance & germs these days, but still, we're all guilty of forgetting to engage in the basic niceties & barely spitting a chunk of corn at somebody in an electronic msg. Giving of one's time doesn't have to be some major expenditure . . . it can just be that extra minute or two, thru-out the day, to acknowledge people! Of all the people at the cafe, YOU, my friend, are the very best at conveying one another's humanity in EVERY interaction! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Even more so in these dats of covid, we can give our time. Even if we can't see people, we can phone them, we can check up on them and we can make them feel that they aren't forgotten. You are so right about cards abd letters, and I still send them. I like to get them, so I know that other people can appreciate a letter arriving on the doormat. All good wishes.
And that gift is being denied by circumstance this year. We have to bottle up our devotion and shower it at a later, much safer time. A thoughtful senryu, Christine. 💛
Others have said everything that I would have said after reading this so I just want to add that your message hits home in a big way! And your loved ones are lucky to have you, Ms. Chris!

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
