Sometimes a few words can say a lot - like in this poem. The "flame" can be a million different things for anyone who reads this. It's whatever one strives for, whatever pulls us, moves us, motivates us, like a dream, a fantasy, or a goal. It might be one of the manageable goals, or the ultimate, the unknowable, the unreachable divine flame. Well, this is what your poem made me think of. :)

There's not a scintilla of doubt you've picked the perfect title for this sizzling little Senryu.
The softly vivid ambiance your words paint onto the willing canvas my imagination sings in poetic voice of humility, perseverance, dedication, steadfastness, enduring faith, and hope ⁓ an invitation to come witness, to comfort in the soft, gentle radiance, a drawing into your moment with you, stirred sensations that stimulate peace and/or calm.
I can almost hear your giggling at my fumbling interpretations. : )
Despite that, I love it, Chris, as I have so many of your pieces … thank you for You! ⁓ Richard 🍃

Size does matter, even if it's small, because with knowing hands, it can be made mighty 'n powerful.
Reminds me of that Eternal Flame burning over the grave of John F. Kennedy.
Could, of course, solicit a number of impressions--both literal and metaphorical.
Intense, abiding love also comes to mind.
Stunning senryu, Chris.

Thank you for that stunning review. Much appreciated Jimmy.
Artists sing of an “old flame”... or
many of us like to keep a candle burning for
the children suffering in this world.. As a child we would sing, “Brighten the corner where you are... someone far from Harbour, you may guide across the shore...”. A lovely poem for hope to those in trouble. tenderly, Pat

You are hot today Chris, on fire one might suggest! Now this crispy senryu to me says love for someone far off is not dulled by distance and still burns.

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
